Toontrack has announced the release of their latest EZX expansion, fusing timeless vintage charm with cutting edge electronic sound design, featuring four kits, each representing its own niche or style.

The Alchemy of Pop EZX expansion represents the 63rd addition to Toontrack’s EZX collection, bridging the gap between several sound ideals and providing a canopy of kits covering the entire range from raw, rich, dark, earthy and open to muffled, tight and snappy.

The expansion for EZdrummer 3 was recorded by JUNO Award-winning engineer/producer/mixer Hill Kourkoutis and sampled by drummer Skye Polson (Digging Roots) at the renowned Canterbury Music Company in Toronto, ON.

In addition to recording one kit with classic drumsticks, another was captured using brushes, one with mallets, and two kits were extensively muffled with towels. This combination offers a unique palette of vibrant kits, perfect for both intimate acoustic settings and hard-hitting edgy sounds.

The included MIDI library showcases the nostalgic, forward-thinking style of Kourkoutis and Polson’s deep, swampy and behind-the-beat pocket style of groove.
