The centrepiece of pretty much every studio is the audio interface. And there has never been more choice available. We were curious to know the preferences of our community but to keep the survey manageable we’ve decided to restrict ourselves to the brand rather than model in this survey. Depending on the results of this we might follow up with a more targeted exploration of specific models.

There are some big names we anticipate will be popular. Focusrite are ubiquitous and Avid’s direct link with Pro Tools can’t be overlooked and Universal Audio, Apogee and RME are all big players but there are very respected brands which have devoted followings in spite of probably not having the biggest market share, brands like Metric Halo, Prism and Lynx.

But all of this is assumption. How does the market actually break down? This is where you can help. We’ve split the survey into three categories - Music, Post and Both/Other. Please select your best fit and only categorise yourself as Both if you’re close to 50/50. Likewise if you principally do Live Sound, Game Audio or anything else which isn’t really covered by the Music/post distinction then Other is for you.

We’ve tried to cover the majority of manufacturers but inevitably we’ll have omitted some, we have included an ‘other’ option at the bottom of the drop-down list for this.
