Dolby Atmos Renderer And Dolby Atmos Album Assembler Updated

Dolby have updated both the Dolby Atmos Renderer and the Dolby Atmos Album Assembler applications. We have the details.

Dolby Atmos Renderer Version v5.3.0

What's new

  • Updated size metadata rendering to a process similar to Dolby Atmos Renderer v5.1 and previous.

  • Removed the all-pass filter applied across all objects and bed channels (introduced in Dolby Atmos Renderer v5.2), reducing True Peak loudness differences between Dolby tools.

  • Loudness measurement aligned with Dolby Atmos Album Assembler v1.4.

  • Added Stereo Direct as new monitoring and re-render layout.

  • Added transport timeline.

  • Option in Preferences to change spacebar playback behavior.

  • Updated rounding behaviour in UI. Master start/end now shown as rounded to nearest subframe.

  • Option in View menu to show master start/end in subframes in top panel.

  • Ambix re-renders are now labelled as AmbiX ACN0(W), AmbiX ACN1(Y), AmbiX ACN2(Z), AmbiX ACN3(X)

  • (Mac only) Prevent display sleep option in Preferences

  • OSC commands to control Renderer transport

  • Qualification of MTRX II audio interface and the Thunderboltâ„¢ 3 option module.

  • Stereo Direct

Stereo Direct has been added as an additional monitoring and re-render layout. This monitoring output is created directly from the Atmos mix not downmixed via an additional layout. Trims for this monitoring and re-render output can be adjusted in the Trims and Downmix window. To show Stereo Direct loudness in the UI set the headphone output in preferences to Stereo Direct.

Please note, that Stereo Direct is not a downmix setting. It is not exported in the ADM (like Lo/Ro or Lt/Rt). It is a monitoring and re-render layout. It can be exported as a re-render as a separate deliverable. It does not contain any LFE signal.

Dolby Atmos Album Assembler Version v1.4

What's new

  • Close a project without quitting the application.

  • New edit modes: Shuffle, Snap, and Slip.

  • Shuffle mode: Used to re-order your songs and preserve any spaces between clips on either the Dolby Atmos or stereo reference track.

  • Snap mode: This is the legacy behavior of Album Assembler v1.3 and previous. It is available on both the Dolby Atmos and stereo reference tracks.

  • Slip mode: Used to move clips freely on the timeline (like in Snap mode). In Slip mode, clips can be dropped on top of other clips, which will trim the overlapped clip. Slip mode is supported on the Dolby Atmos track only.

  • New location for stereo reference controls.

  • Support for Dolby Atmos Renderer v5.3.

  • Updated loudness measurement for alignment with Dolby Atmos Renderer v5.3. See the Dolby Atmos Renderer v5.3 Release Notes for more information about changes to rendering of size metadata and True Peak loudness.

  • Support for 2.0 direct trim metadata (when present).

  • Dolby Atmos Renderer v5.3 (and higher) provides a monitoring mode called 2.0 direct for speakers and headphones. Any 2.0 trim metadata present in your ADM BWF files will be sent to the Renderer, for use if you are monitoring in this mode.

Fixed:

  • When two adjacent clips have different limiter settings, it can take up to 65 samples from the start of the second clip for the limiter to react. This can result in a short transient at the start of the clip or clipping. (GANYMEDE-1325)

  • The text for the last file in the Relink missing files dialog could be cut off in the user interface. (GANYMEDE-2390)

  • Optimized loudness measurement for 96 kHz files. (Ganymede-2393)
