Baby Audio Humanoid Plugin Released

Baby Audio is renowned for its award-winning instruments and effects plugins and for their latest release they venture into the realms of vocal effects with the launch of Humanoid

Humanoid has been designed for extreme hard-tuning with a variety of innovative voice manipulation features. The plugin’s FFT-powered pitch engine gives the familiar hard-tuning effect an even more aggressive and synthetic flavour, and, in combination with its resynthesis features, Humanoid lets users create interesting robotic vocals from any singing performance. Humanoid is powered entirely by DSP and does not use AI in any capacity.

Like classic vocal tuners, Humanoid can instantly remap incoming vocals to a musical scale. It can also be controlled manually, or, played with MIDI like a vocoder. Crucially, Humanoid can tune incoming vocals to any target pitch without artifacts, ideal for generating choirs of robotic harmony from simple inputs.

The Synthesize panel allows you to blend a hard-tuned vocal with a wavetable synth oscillator. The synth follows the pitch-corrected vocal signal, resynthesizing the notes you sing. A circular Transform dial can be used to mix between hard tuning and resynthesis, and adjusting Note Shift will retune the synthesized voice at fixed intervals. Layers can be added with the Octave feature.

A Blend slider mixes the synthesized section with the original pitch-corrected signal whilst a Filter panel serves as a traditional EQ or a synth-style resonant filter for tone shaping. The Utility panel cleans up the vocal signal for better pitch correction and resynthesis and an Effects panel adds pitch warble, analog-style chorus, and glitch effects.
